HiyaHiya's Free Panda Amigurumi Pattern

Seeing as the warmer weather is starting to creep in over here at HiyaHiya Europe, we’ve started to migrate from knitting and crocheting jumpers and hats to amigurumi. What better amigurumi pattern to start off with than our very own HiyaHiya panda!


This adorable crochet amigurumi panda pattern consists of magic rings, single crochets, increases, and decreases. Here are the supplies you’ll need:

Crochet terms:

STS = stitch(es)

SC = single crochet

INC = increase

DEC = decrease



Crochet Panda Pattern

Head and Body:

(Start with white yarn)

1. magic ring 6 SC (6)

2. INC in every STS (12)

3. (SC 1, INC 1) repeat around (18)

4. (SC 2, INC 1) repeat around (24)

5. (SC 3, INC 1) repeat around (30)

6. (SC 4, INC 1) repeat around (36)

7-11. SC 1 in every STS (36)

12. (SC 4, DEC) repeat around (30)

13. (SC 3, DEC) repeat around (24)

14. (SC 2, DEC) repeat around (18)

Start filling with stuffing as you crochet.

START OF BODY 

(Switch to black yarn)

15-17. SC 1 in every STS (18)

18. (SC 2, INC 1) repeat around (24)

(Switch to white yarn)

19-20. SC 1 in every STS (24)

21. (SC 3, INC 1) repeat around (30)

22-23. SC 1 in every STS (30)

24. (SC 4, INC 1) repeat around (36)

25-26. SC 1 in every STS (36)

27. (SC 5, INC 1) repeat around (42) 

28. SC 1 in every STS (42)

29. (SC 5, DEC) repeat around (36)

30. (SC 4, DEC) repeat around (30)

Around here, start stuffing the head and body since you are about to close the whole thing.

31. (SC 3, DEC) repeat around (24)

32. (SC 2, DEC) repeat around (18)

Start filling with stuffing as you crochet.

33. (SC 1, DEC) repeat around (12)

34. DEC in every STS (6)

Continue to DEC until you can’t, bind off and leave a generous tail of yarn to use to sew onto the body later.



Snout:

1. magic ring 6 SC (6)

2. INC in every STS (12)

3. (SC 1, INC 1) repeat around (18)

4-5. SC 1 in every STS (18)

Bind off and leave a generous tail of yarn. Stuff with filling.


Ears: (x2)

1. magic ring 5 SC (5)

2. INC in every STS (10)

3. (SC 1, INC 1) repeat around (15)

4. (SC 2, INC 1) repeat around (20)

5-6. SC 1 in ever STS (20)

Bind off and leave a generous tail of yarn.



Eyes: (x2)

(This should be an oval-shape)

Crochet with a single strand of black DK yarn.

1. magic ring 6 SC (6)

2. SC 1, INC 2, SC 1, INC 1, INC 1 (10)

3. SC 2, INC 1, INC 1, SC 3, INC 1, INC 1 SC 2 (14)

Bind off.


Arms: (x2)

In black yarn

1. magic ring 6 SC (6)

2. INC in every STS (12)

3. (SC 1, INC 1) repeat around (18)

4-5. SC 1 in every STS (18)

Start filling with stuffing as you crochet.

6. (SC 1, DEC) repeat around (12)

7-10. SC 1 in every STS (12)

Continue to DEC in every STS until you can’t and bind off, leaving a generous tail of yarn.


Legs: (x2)

In black yarn

1. magic ring 6 SC (6)

2. INC in every STS (12)

3. (SC 1, INC 1) repeat around (18)

4-5. SC 1 in every STS (18)

Start stuffing with filling as you crochet.

6. (SC 1, DEC) repeat around (12)

7-8. SC 1 in every STS (12)

Continue to DEC in every STS until you can’t and bind off, leaving a generous tail of yarn.



Tail: 

1. magic ring 5 SC (5)

2. INC in every STS (10)

3-4. SC 1 in every STS (10)

Bind off and leave a generous tail of yarn. Stuff with filling. 














Now that you’ve got every piece, it’s time to assemble the panda!














With a darning needle, sew the different parts together, making sure they are all symmetrical on both sides. Then, with a darning needle and black yarn, sew on a nose on the snout. 





And you’re all done! You’ve got your very own amigurumi panda.
